An-yeong-ha-se-yo (with us bowing)!

Let's travel back in time to May 7, 2012, our first day of our trip in Korea.  It was our first time operating as a group (minus Ryan who was on his flight, coming to join us).

For the first half of the day, we were introduced to Seoul National University's (SNU) campus.  The campus is beautiful with many hills and stairs; we were captivated by the place and were sore by the hills and flights of steep stairs.  We felt like we were visiting an ecological site instead of a university.

Besides the campus, we visited our classrooms and our discussion cafe-Cafe Pascussi.

After walking around the campus with the sun glazing on us, we traveled using public transportation-- the busy subway--to Korea's National Folk Museum.  We were the center of attention as we stood as a large group of foreigners trying to figure out which subway line to take.  We were a fun crowd!  It was a hassle at first, but slowly we learned how to navigate as a big group and how to have fun together.

(We were showcasing our T-money subway cards)

As a new group and as beginners who were trying to become familiar with using the subway and to the streets of Korea, we arrived safely at Korea's National Folk Museum.  There, we have a curator for 90 minutes who was pleasantly willing to guide and explain to us about the different pieces in the museum.  Her explanations refreshed our memories about what we have learned about Korean history prior to coming to Korea.  She was very knowledgeable and we were very thankful to have her as our curator.

After an enriching amount of time in the museum, our group took some fun pictures outside the building.

To end the first day with a bang, we ate Korean barbecue together and experienced norebang--Korean karaoke.  The meal was delicious and we sang our hearts out that night!

We attempted the Korean couple feeding etiquette.

Korea and the program began on a powerfully positive note for us.  We have an amazing first day and night in Korea!  We were excited to experience the following adventures with each other.

Love,

Hau and My Group
